This sculpture of Emperor Napoleon shows a caring statesman of the people in contrast to the intense General Napoleon Bonapart bust. It was in 1804, by popular vote, that General Napoleon became the Emperor Napoleon of the french empire. It has been noted that Napoleon Bonapart had a double personality depending on which hat he wore. The general was the swift and determined conqueror, and the emperor was a caring and determined statesman that returned the daily governing back to the people. Napoleon rose to incredible heights in the military at a very young age. The General Napoleon is known for his military genius, decisiveness, and ability to negotiate treaties verses war. Emperor Napoleon was known for his statesmanship, reorganizing conquered lands, details of business, simplification of governments, and systems of rational law. Therefore, though Napoleon Bonaparte's personality and military achievements remain controversial, his genius and impact upon history are undisputed. Napoleon Bonapart as general or emperor improved roads, canals, fostered agriculture and industry, established a sound currency and created the Bank of France. With the aid of a committee of jurists he constructed the Code of Napoleon, the system of rational law. Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769 in Ajaccio on the island of Corsica and died in 1821.
