Sixth Century Handball (circa 510 B.C.) National Archaeology Museum, Athens. The relief is from the base of a statue found in the Kerameikos Cemetery in Athens. Youths facing each other as teams use the palms of their hands to bat or toss the ball, trying to force the opposing team back across their own goal line. It was a recreational game of teenagers and not one of their more serious sports. The Dog and Cat panel was carved on the same base.
