Amorgos sculptural bust head - This sculpture copies the Cycladic style of artistry. The disc-like face with a stylized nose as the only discernible feature placed atop a slender elongated neck was typical of the archaic Greece Cycladic figures. The German archeologist, Paul Wolter, described a Cycladic head which he found in 1891 as incredibly ugly. Most patrons of the arts would have agreed with him at the time.
