Balzac's failures never faltered his drive to continue to write novels and novelettes. Balzac's real success came after his death. Honore de Balzac was born in 1799 and died in August of 1850. French author Balzac was one of the creators of realism in literature, with a bent for satire. His collection of novels and novelettes are called La Comédie humaine, which originated from Dante's The Divine Comedy.
