They told Joan of Arc to go find the young prince, still called the dauphin, lead his troops to victory, free France of her enemies and see him crowned king in the great cathedral at Rheims. Jeanne of Arc was opposed by officials and she was forced to travel across France through enemy territory but so great was her consecration that it enabled her to reach the dauphin, to win belief in her mission, and to ride in shining armor beneath the golden lined banner as the leader of the armies of France. In battle after battle Joan of Arc and her armies were victorious, the enemy was beaten back and the dauphin was properly crowned King of France. Mission accomplished, voices and visions gone, Joan of Arc wanted to return to her village. However, the king persuaded her to continue the campaign and shortly after she was captured by the Burgundians and sold to England. The ungrateful king abandoned her and Jeanne d'Arc was condemned to death by fire. The question will always remain, how could such an innocent, sweet looking girl of 17 be so victorious in battle.
