The Lady Justice Sculpture dates from ancient Roman times, lady represented is Themis, the goddess of justice and law. Well known for her clear sightedness and impartiality with which justice is served. During the 16th century, artists began to depict her as blindfolded to show that justice will not be subject to influence. From this, the statue became also known as Blind Justice.
